The decision to end a marriage is never easy, especially after sharing memorable moments and experiences together. Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, known for their appearance on The Golden Bachelor, have chosen to embark on separate paths after thoughtful consideration and numerous heartfelt conversations.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth and — and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to — dissolve our marriage,” Turner told Chang.

“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope,” Nist said. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”

Their journey began on the popular reality TV show, The Golden Bachelor, where they captured the hearts of viewers during the first season. Their romance flourished amidst the cameras and lights, leading to a proposal by Turner to Nist during the season finale.

Following the proposal, Turner and Nist exchanged vows in a lavish ceremony at the start of the year, marking the beginning of their marital journey. Initially, the couple expressed complete commitment to each other despite the distance between their respective residences in Indiana and New Jersey.

But they later discovered they were too “dedicated” to their families…

“We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at homes after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision.”

“The thing that strikes me the most in our conversations, it’s been how dedicated both of us our to our families,” Turner said. “So we look at these conversations and we both think it’s best for the happiness of each of us to live apart.”

Although Turner and Nist are embarking on separate paths, they remain committed to cherishing the fond memories they once created together.

“I still hold deep affection for this individual. Without a doubt, my love for her persists. I cheer her on each day,” Turner expressed.

“I still harbor love for him,” Nist reciprocated.
