Hilaria and Alec Baldwin have a reputation for choosing distinctive names for their children, often with Spanish origins. Nevertheless, following revelations that Hilaria lacks Spanish heritage and amidst the controversy surrounding her alleged use of a faux Spanish accent and misrepresentation of her background in 2020, people were surprised by the name they bestowed upon their seventh child.
“Her persistent attempt to appear Spanish is rather vexing. Why is it acceptable? Why does she persist? Have they really become so conceited?” remarked one person.
Another individual on Twitter commented, “A fake Spanish name from a mom born in Boston,” while another chimed in, “Hilaria & Alec Baldwin welcomed their 7th child. Not a single American name, not even a middle name.”

A third person added, “Alec Baldwin’s wife pretending to be Spanish is utterly absurd. Changing her name from Hillary to Hilaria, naming all seven of their kids with Spanish roots, pretending to forget the English word for ‘cucumber,’ feigning an accent. She should’ve changed her name to ‘hilarious’ instead.”
However, some pointed out that Ilaria is actually Italian for “Hilary.” It conveys a sense of cheerfulness and was one of the more popular Italian girl names in 2006.
