Prince Harry and Meghan Markle famously chose to step back from royal life a few years ago, but they have since demonstrated their ability to continue performing royal duties. Their recent trip to Nigeria reportedly left Prince William and Princess Kate ‘furious.’ However, do the Sussexes really care?

Some believe Meghan was always destined to be in Kate’s shadow upon marrying into the Royal Family. This perception persists even though Meghan is no longer a working royal. After all, Kate will become the Queen of England when her husband ascends the throne, and she is arguably the most popular royal since the late Princess Diana.

In my opinion, though, Harry and Meghan’s trip to Nigeria significantly shifted the dynamics, and Meghan might have achieved a measure of revenge.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s move to the US left royal fans questioning their decisions. When they relocated, there was widespread concern that their children wouldn’t have close family, including their cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, which some believed could be detrimental.

Despite the concerns, the Sussexes focused on building their brand, though this wasn’t universally well-received. Many were irritated by their portrayal of royal life and the accusations they leveled against senior members of the Royal Family.

The couple’s lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify, which involved sharing intimate details of their past lives, angered many in the UK, including Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were reportedly furious about the Sussexes’ revelations.

Harry and Meghan showed little interest in returning to royal duties. Nonetheless, some of their projects seemed to follow the Royal Family’s playbook on how to spend their “well-earned” money.

The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry for veterans, is undeniably a commendable initiative. However, given the Sussexes’ actions in recent years, it’s hard not to view it as a potential publicity win as well.

Meghan Markle’s popularity soars in the US

Starting a feud with the future king and queen might not have been Harry and Meghan’s wisest move, but it seemed inevitable. Reports indicate that William and Kate have no interest in reconciling with Harry and Meghan, further straining their relationship.

While Meghan’s popularity has waned in the UK, she appears to have gained traction in the US. A recent Newsweek poll shows that Meghan’s popularity is on the rise.

She is liked by 36 percent of adults and disliked by 24 percent, giving her a net approval rating of plus 12. This approval rating matches that of King Charles. The Sussexes’ recent trip to Nigeria might even become a significant milestone for Meghan’s resurgence.

Kate Middleton remains beloved in the UK, but after publishing a manipulated Mother’s Day photo earlier this year, she faced backlash. This incident not only eroded trust in her but also led some to question the integrity of the monarchy itself. After all, if they can’t be truthful, what can they offer?

Amid Kate’s challenges, Meghan Markle is preparing to launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. Additionally, she and Harry’s recent trip to Nigeria marked a positive new chapter for the couple.

The Sussexes received a royal welcome upon their arrival in Nigeria, raising some eyebrows. A royal reception for two self-professed non-royals? Their trip to Nigeria could be seen as a subtle act of revenge against the Firm.

Meghan recently revealed that a DNA test showed she is 43 percent Nigerian, providing a personal reason for the trip. Although the journey was initially planned to support the Invictus Games, the DNA results added a personal touch.

During their visit, Harry and Meghan greeted the public with big smiles, took selfies, and enjoyed the perks of being royal without answering to the Firm. Meanwhile, their trip brought Buckingham Palace a wave of unwanted publicity, and the Sussexes didn’t need to address royal issues to turn the situation to their advantage.

Royal expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror that William and Kate were furious about Harry and Meghan’s trip to Nigeria, as it felt just like a royal visit.

“Everything you might expect from an official royal visit was there – the receptions, the visits to schools and charities, to wounded soldiers and the disabled,” he said.

Meghan Markle achieved her ‘cold’ revenge on Kate with her trip to Nigeria

Moreover, the Nigeria trip revealed a more human side of Meghan. Community work is highly valued, especially in the US, making the trip a significant publicity success.

This success wasn’t just for her brand. Meghan’s positive reception could be seen as a form of cold revenge against Kate and the Royal Family.

Why? Because Meghan felt deeply betrayed and hurt by them, and her reputation suffered after leaving the UK and speaking out about her negative experiences. In contrast, her recent work portraying her as caring and kind will undoubtedly boost her popularity.

There are countless tales of royalty, but Meghan’s experiences suggest that being a ‘non-royal’ princess has its advantages, particularly in restoring her image.

Kate and William may reportedly be “furious” about Harry and Meghan’s Nigeria trip, but the Duke and Duchess are likely smiling all the way to their Montecito mansion, far from paparazzi and royal protocols.

Of course, everyone, including Harry and Meghan, wishes Kate a speedy recovery in her cancer battle. However, that doesn’t mean Meghan can’t seize an opportunity to shine in the spotlight.

Meghan’s Nigeria trip may have signaled a fresh start, but she carried herself with the grace of a princess.
